Food Review – Barbarossa Wood-Fired Pizza Kitchen and Bar

In recent years the Baker and Bedford Street area of Middlesbrough has transformed into a culinary delight, what with events and companies such as Orange Pip and Songbird Bakery. One of my favourite places to visit around this end of town is Barbarossa Pizza kitchen. I recently revisited and as the food was as good as it always is, I thought I’d dedicate a post to my favourite pizza place.

A Roman Holiday

I love looking back through old photos, and recently stumbled across the pictures from my trip to Rome last year. The trip was my present for my boyfriend’s twenty-first birthday and we spent three nights in June exploring the city. We had an amazing time exploring the city and celebrating both Liam’s birthday and the end of our time at university, as we jetted off just after our last exams. Pumpkin Soup Recipe

As soon as the colder weather comes around, my love for cooking and baking reignites. Working over a hot oven in the summer just doesn’t appeal, but in autumn and winter I crave warming meals and desserts. One of my favourite things to bake is a family favourite, corned beef pie, but I also love to make huge pans of soup. My North East Spotlight series was created to showcase some of the best parts of the region, and as I mentioned in my 5 Things I Love About the North post, one of the best things our region has to offer is definitely the food. My work recently hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning and the only thing better than baking is baking for charity (plus if you buy a cake and eat it you’re literally not allowed to feel guilt, because it’s for a good cause) so I decided to crack out a family recipe – the corned beef pie! Food Review – Lemongrass Thai Cuisine, Redcar

I love living in Redcar, as I’m so close to the beach but also surrounded by beautiful grassy and woodland areas. The town centre is making a comeback with record stores, male and female boutiques and a variety of cocktail bars and micropubs. I’d even go as far to say that Central Park in Redcar makes the best parmo in Teesside, but if you’re not in the mood for one (shocking, I know) the there really aren’t that many other options for food. I caught up with my best friend recently for the first time since Christmas and we decided to go for food and drinks. She’s vegetarian, so I knew that Central Park wouldn’t really cut it, and so we decided on Lemongrass Thai Cuisine. I love Thai food and had a great meal at Thaikhun in the Metro Centre earlier this year. Lemongrass is one of the few restaurants that Redcar has to offer, and so I thought I’d write down my thoughts on this slightly different option.
